Those black streaks you see on your roof are not just dirt. They are caused by algae called Gloeocapsa magma that feeds on the limestone filler in your shingles. As it spreads, it holds moisture on the roof and creates the environment for moss, mold, and lichen to grow. How Our Soft Wash System Works

Most people have heard of pressure washing. Soft washing is different, and for roofs, siding, and anything painted or delicate, it’s the right way to clean.

Here’s how it works.

We start by applying a professional cleaning solution directly to the surface we’re cleaning. The solution is designed to break down dirt and kill the algae, mildew, moss, and mold that cause those black streaks on your roof or the green and gray staining on your siding. We let the solution sit for a few minutes so it can do its job at the root, not just on the surface.

Then we rinse everything down with low-pressure water. Not the high-pressure blast you’d use on a concrete driveway. Just enough water to wash the dirt and dead organic material away cleanly.

The reason this matters is simple. High pressure can strip the protective granules off asphalt shingles, force water under siding, and damage paint, wood, and softer materials. Soft washing avoids all of that. It’s the method that the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends for cleaning shingles, and it’s what your siding and roof need if you want them to last.
